some of them yes, some of them were created directly in Photoshop. if you take a look at the 3d text tutorials you will see examples of both.

Most of these look like the 3d was created in a 3d program, rendered, and then brought into Photoshop. The dimension itself wasn’t done in Photoshop. (Although in CS4 Extended some 3d models could have been brought in from a 3d program and manipulated, just not modeled.)
