25 Of The Most Beautiful Websites Built With Expression Engine

Posted on 15. Sep, 2010 by in Inspiration

ExpressionEngine by EllisLab is an extremely powerful and flexible content management system (CMS) that is loved by just about every web designer who has used it… as well as their clients.  Expression Engine can be considered as more than just a CMS, perhaps its own framework structure, with plug-ins, modules, add-ons and customizations allowing you to design and develop your site without the limits you would find with other packages. Gone are the days of cumbersome content management systems that cost a fortune and never do what the client needs it to.

Today lets take a look at 25 of the most beautiful websites that are powered by Expression Engine.

Nice selection. I think a lot of them have quite a US feel to them. Maybe a few more European ones in the run up to EECI

The important thing to remember about ExpressionEngine is that it will work with ANY design. these just happen to be sites with talented designers behind them, EE has little to do with how beautiful they are.

That being said, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that EE had a great community of third party add-on developers. Their skill and innovation continue to amaze me. There is rarely a time when I can’t find an add-on that provides functionality that I need, and that is what allows such flexibility for the designer.

Yes, exactly that is the beautiful thing about it. so many CMS systems are clunky, and really limit the power of the designers. This for me breaks through all of that. Glad you have the same opinion about the community and 3rd party add ons. Its pretty amazing what is going on in both of those places. All of this makes it the go to choice for designers.

Thanks for bringing ExpressionEngine to my attention, I hadn’t heard of it and am currently looking at new CMS options for web design clients. I love seeing all these great designs too – so inspiring. Duoh! and Story Pixel are my favorites.
