Black is one of the more under appreciated colors on the web. Most peoples initial reaction is that the page is too dark, the text is too hard to read, and its just overall too drab. Truth is, black is a very tricky color to design with since it will, more likely than not, dilute all the other colors around it. Because of this, you need to be very careful with the other colors that you choose. It works well with bright shades of reds, blues, yellows and greens. Black can make vibrant colors really really stand out and pop as it serves as a great base.

By ‘classy and beautiful’ you mean nice photos and text on a black background… correct?

perhaps, also the good use of a color that gets a bad rap creates nice, crisp sites that are very attractive
